Frequently asked questions about SmartCashier
and the cloud cash register.

Basics
What it is & how legal it is.
What is SmartCashier?
SmartCashier is a cloud cash register app for Android and web by Greek software company Retail Management Solutions. It issues retail receipts and invoices, transmits them automatically to the AADE myDATA platform through a certified provider, accepts card payments and covers retail, hospitality, delivery and street markets from a single tablet or phone. It is Greece's first cloud cash register, with 2,500+ installations.
What is a cloud cash register?
A cloud cash register is an app that turns an Android tablet or phone into a complete, legally compliant point of sale: it issues receipts and invoices, transmits them automatically to AADE's myDATA through a certified e-invoicing provider and keeps your data in the cloud — with no fiscal device (ΦΗΜ) and no dedicated hardware required. Read the full cloud cash register guide.
Is a cloud cash register legal in Greece?
Yes. Greek law allows documents to be issued through certified e-invoicing providers (ΥΠΑΗΕΣ) without a fiscal device. Every document is transmitted to myDATA and carries an AADE QR code and a MARK number, so customers and auditors can verify it instantly.
Do I need a fiscal device (ΦΗΜ)?
No. With a cloud cash register operating through a certified provider there is no fiscal device to buy or maintain — signing and transmission to AADE happen electronically through the provider.
How is it different from a traditional cash register?
A traditional register means buying a machine with a fiscal device, annual maintenance and a technician for every legislative change. A cloud register runs on a device you probably already own, updates automatically, connects to your EFT/POS terminal, issues invoices in the same app and gives you reports from anywhere. See the full comparison table on the “Cloud vs traditional cash register” page.
Who makes SmartCashier?
Retail Management Solutions (VAT ID EL801291892), a Greek software company founded in 2020 and based in Maroussi, Athens (73 Grammou St.), specialising in point-of-sale systems for retail and hospitality. SmartCashier has been featured on TheCaller.gr and selected by the Cooperative Bank of Karditsa for its new POS terminals.
myDATA & AADE
Transmission, MARK & migration.
How does transmission to myDATA work?
Automatically, on every document: it is signed by a certified e-invoicing provider (integrations with Simply, Softone, Eskap), receives a myDATA MARK number and is printed with an AADE QR code. No action is required from the user.
What are the MARK number and the AADE QR code?
The MARK (Unique Registration Number) is the number myDATA assigns to every document transmitted to AADE. The QR code is printed on the receipt and links to AADE's verification page, so the customer can confirm the document was duly transmitted.
What happens to my old cash register if I switch to cloud?
The decommissioning of the old fiscal device (ΦΗΜ) is declared to AADE — usually handled by your accountant. From then on you issue all documents from SmartCashier. We guide you through the migration step by step: call +30 210 3004011 or use the contact form.
Does it cover the mandatory cash register–EFT/POS interconnection?
Yes. SmartCashier implements the cash-register-to-EFT/POS integration required by AADE: the amount is sent from the register to the terminal automatically, with no double keying.
Pricing & trial
Cost with no fine print.
How much does SmartCashier cost?
Three annual subscription plans: Basic €149/year (retail & myDATA), Hospitality €199/year (tables, zones, floor plan) and Delivery & Farmers €49/year (delivery notes, SDA/SDE, document transformations). Prices exclude VAT. See the Pricing section.
What does each plan include?
Basic includes receipts and invoices, automatic myDATA with AADE QR codes, EFT/POS and IRIS integration, offline mode and thermal printers. Hospitality adds tables, zones, floor plan, moving and merging bills, reservations and per-table billing. Delivery & Farmers adds delivery notes with QR and GPS, aggregate SDA/SDE documents and document transformations.
Are there hidden fees or per-document charges?
No. Pricing is a flat annual subscription per plan, with no per-document charges and no hidden fees.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Download the app from Google Play and create a demo account for free, with no business details and no card. Try all core features before you decide.
Is there a lock-in or contract?
No. The trial is commitment-free and the subscription is annual, with no long-term contract.
Equipment
Devices, printers & offline.
What equipment do I need?
An Android tablet or phone is enough. It supports Bluetooth and network thermal printers (Epson, XPrinter, Star, Citizen, Bixolon and more) with Greek code pages, barcode scanning with the device camera, and Urovo all-in-one terminals with a built-in printer.
Does it work on iPhone or on a computer?
The cash register app is for Android (5.1 and newer) — tablets, phones or all-in-one terminals. There is also a web version accessible from a browser on a computer. For the store's till, an Android device is recommended.
Which printers does it support?
Bluetooth and network thermal printers: Epson, XPrinter/Zjiang, Star, Citizen, Bixolon and generic models, with full support for Greek code pages (cp737, cp869, windows1253, iso88597), automatic network printer discovery and multiple printers at once.
What if my device breaks or gets lost?
Your data (items, customers, documents, reports) lives in the cloud, not on the device. Sign in from any other Android device and keep working — unlike a traditional register, where the till stops until the fiscal device is repaired.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. If the connection drops you keep issuing receipts as normal: documents are stored locally, queued and synchronised automatically with the cloud and myDATA once the network is back. No document is ever lost.
Payments
Cards, IRIS & split bills.
Which POS terminals does it connect to?
The Cooperative Banks of Karditsa, Epirus and Chania, Viva, Worldline tapXphone, myPOS, Cardlink, Euronet, Nexi and Mellon — more than 100 providers in total — plus IRIS instant payments, in line with the mandatory AADE cash-register-to-EFT/POS integration.
Does it support IRIS payments?
Yes — IRIS instant payments, useful for example for kiosks and small points of sale without a card terminal.
Can I split a bill or take partial payment?
Yes. Cash, card, on-credit and partial/split payment are all supported — for example when a group splits the bill.
Sectors & features
Hospitality, markets, invoices, AI.
Is it suitable for a restaurant or café?
Yes. It offers full hospitality management: tables with status (free, occupied, reserved, cleaning), zones and a store floor plan, moving bills between tables, merging tables, reservations and per-table billing. Available with the Hospitality plan (€199/year excl. VAT).
Is it suitable for street markets and farmers?
Yes — it is one of its strong points: aggregate dispatch and return notes (SDA/SDE) issued from your phone, suggested returns based on original quantities, and full offline operation at the market stall, so issuing never stops when the signal drops. See all use cases.
Does it issue invoices as well as receipts?
Yes, in the same app. Type only the customer's VAT number (ΑΦΜ) and their details are filled in automatically from the Greek business registry (ΓΓΠΣ). Credit notes, on-credit sales and customer history are also supported.
Does it support multiple stores or branches?
Yes. Each branch has its own document series and numbering, with shared items and price lists in the cloud and sales reports per store or in total, wherever you sign in from.
Does it have artificial intelligence (AI)?
Yes. SmartCashier Talk brings AI to the cash register: voice item search (say the item and it lands on the receipt), text-to-speech announcements for totals and notifications, and an AI support assistant with voice and text in Greek — also available at www.smartcashier.gr via the assistant button.
Getting started & support
From download to first receipt.
How fast can I get started?
In three steps: download the app from Google Play and create a demo account, add your items, categories and VAT rates and connect a printer and card terminal with the setup wizard, then issue your first receipt with an AADE QR code. Leave your details in the contact form and we call you within one business day.
How do I send the receipt to the customer?
Print it on a thermal printer, send it by email or SMS, save it as a PDF or share it to another app. The customer can also scan the QR code and receive the receipt on their phone.
What support is available?
Phone support on +30 210 3004011 (Monday–Friday 9:00–17:00), the contact form on the site and an AI support assistant with voice and text, available around the clock at www.smartcashier.gr.
How many businesses use it?
SmartCashier counts 2,500+ installations across Greek businesses — from kiosks and cafés to restaurants, street-market farmers and multi-store chains.
Where is my data stored?
In the cloud, accessible only from your account — so it is not lost if the device breaks and it is available from anywhere, including to your accountant. Personal data is covered by the site's Privacy Policy.
